WED WELL SHOWCASE 2024
On a very bright Saturday in February, The Pop-Up Chapel team popped-up at the lovely Wed Well Showcase in Mississauga. This showcase endeavours (and always succeeds) to beat the common idea that wedding shows are too big, outdated and tacky. Hosted at the Small Arms Inspection Building, the Wed Well organizers hand pick wedding industry vendors and experts to help the modern couple imagine and execute their special day.
We arrived the day before the showcase to set-up our beautiful booth. We decorated the space with recycled and refreshed Chapel elements from our May 26 Chapel at Parkdale Hall, which consisted of muted dried florals, and everyone’s favourite decor item, disco balls!
We wanted to use these because they articulate our unique design style, and they catch the eye without being overwhelming or flashy. This design was also the first done by our new creative director Alicia, and we felt it was symbolic of all the great things ahead for the Chapel!
These floral arrangements stood beside a gallery wall of some of our favourite Chapel portraits from the 2023 season, which had our booth overflowing with love and cute couples. This was all tied together by our signature neon CHAPEL sign. (We literally go nowhere without it)
Something really special about participating in these showcases is getting to meet newly engaged couples (in person!) who are still in the planning phase of their wedding. The nature of the Pop-Up Chapel means our team only gets to shake hands with our couples on the day of their wedding. It was so refreshing to talk to some engaged folks about what they like and dislike about planning their special day, venues and wedding styles. Getting to know some potential PUC couples was so much fun and a total change from our typical relationship with them.
We had been looking forward to Wed Well for many reasons, one of which was unveiling our newest Co. Wed service. This is now newly available to book, but we had enough details confirmed at that time we were able to get feelers out and it was so well received. Co.Wed will be an expended version of the existing Chapel package including 75+ guests, and a 4 hour experience. It was great to hear from couples who follow the Chapel but want to celebrate with more than just 20-30 people, and to be able to share it with them.
An added benefit to this wonderful event is the opportunity to connect with vendors. We always use this opportunity to look out for other wedding industry folks who could help us enhance and elevate the Chapel experience. These new connections allow us to keep up with the changes and trends in the wedding industry, for example, we noticed wedding day content creators at the show this year - a new type of vendor that is a great indication of how weddings are changing.
All in all we had a great time joining the Wed Well Showcase this year, and we are certainly looking forward to what’s in store for 2025! If you don’t already, follow along with Wed Well and keep your eye out for next years tickets.
You can also follow the Pop-Up Chapel to get the most up to date information about Co.Wed and all our services and updates.
