CHAPEL RECAP: AUGUST 10 & 11, 2023
The forecast called for rain on August 10th & 11th, but instead we enjoyed the brightest of Chapels at The Henley Room, where 10 couples said ‘I do’.
Robyn Woytiuk designed the Chapel around a sunset colour palette, using simple items such as yarn, repurposed Chapel decor, and up-cycled vases. The hand-died string rained down from the ceiling onto the florals for a translucent, free-flowing effect. The abundant natural light at the waterfront venue, brought the sunny decor alive, and complemented the joy felt by each lovely couple. The photo moment continued the sunny-day vibes, with a rainbow like arch, ombre pink rug and a beautiful vintage velvet seat. The couple portraits with this set-up were truly spectacular.
Flower Treasures took the colour scheme and added a perfect touch by incorporating lavender and green blooms to pop against the sunny setting. May Flowers collected inspiration from the couples and put together personal bouquets and boutonnières to reflect their own style. One bride chose to save her bouquet forever, by adding the bouquet preservation to her Chapel. She has since received her bouquet, conserved in a beautiful tray for long lasting enjoyment, by Mint & Gold Creations.
Leonard Nolasco and Kim Adeney shared the important responsibility of officiating our 10 beautiful couples as they entered into wedded bliss. They both approach each couple and ceremony by discussing the bigger purpose of getting married, which helps to keep couples focus on the present moment and the relationship that has brought them here.
For the tunes, we had a Toronto Jazz Collective soloist, strumming and humming the best love songs there are. TJC consistently provides top-notch talent who make the live music experience unforgettable.
This Chapel was absolutely decked out when it came to food. Providing the light bites for every Chapel, we had the always tasty Courage Cookies and Purplesful Popcorn. Some couples opted for a petite cutting cake, by Olivia Yang Cake Studio, making for some super sweet pictures. Others went the direction of specialty cupcakes brought to us by Cassy’s Cakes. We even had some charcuterie boxes, thoughtfully curated by Platter Smash.
When it came time for some cheers we had a fully stocked bar thanks to our generous sponsors at Fresh Wines, Shiny Apple Cider, Steam Whistle, and Gruvi. The guests were able to enjoy a full range of drinks, with or without alcohol!
To immortalize the special moments, we had a fantastic team of photographers and a live stream technician, arranging and recording throughout the day. Alicia Thurston Photography, Rita Kravchuk Photography, Luna Wedding Photography, and Willow + Birch took on the photography, while Varey Sound carried out the live stream for a couple who’s family wasn’t able to attend.
This Chapel raised $3000 for the Martha Coffey Development Fund, created by the Argonaut Rowing Club. This fund supports the next generation of athletes in rowing, by fostering mentoring, inclusivity, and inclusion amongst junior athletes of the sport.
