CHAPEL RECAP: AUGUST 24 & 25, 2023
In late August, we prepared for a sold-out, funky, retro Chapel at the perfect summer venue, Evergreen Brick Works. Scattered showers threatened to ruin the fun a few times, but the Pop-Up Chapel team and our 18 delightful couples didn’t let that stop us
. The nature-meets-industrial vibe of Koerner Gardens, was the best setting for our 70’s inspired, yet very trendy Chapel design. Designed by Kendall at It’s Okay Studio, this decor was influenced by the beauty of clashing colours and concepts coming together to compliment each other. Made up of vibrant greens, oranges and lavenders, the design emulated the colours of iridescent materials and created a beautiful contrast against the graffitied brick walls. Event Rental Group also supported our vision with bar and furniture rentals to match the hip decor.
Narcissus & Echo designed and executed a stunning bundle of floral installations along the same quirky colour palette. Bright morning glories, sprawling Persian buttercups, and purple gladiolus, made for layered arrangements that practically exploded. To compliment each couple, May Flowers gathered their inspiration and composed awe-inspiring bouquets, boutonnières and corsages. One of which, the bride loved so much she chose to have it preserved by Mint + Gold Creations, for a lifelong keepsake.
Kim Adeney and Leonard Nolasco took on all 18 ceremonies with such grace and their usual warm energy. Both Kim and Leonard have a special way of creating ceremonies to help remind the couples of all the reason they’ve chosen to get married.
Creating a beautiful ambiance, we had the sweet sounds of Toronto Jazz Collective soloist, Noel on guitar and vocals, bringing each couple down the aisle to their favourite love song. Supporting Noel, we had EpiQ Vision handling A/V like the experts they are.
When all was said and done, our couples skipped back up the aisle to receive a special toast from Fresh Wines and Gruvi non-alcoholic beverages. Right behind them were all the guests who made their way over to the cutest ever mobile bar, The Tipsy Turny Trailer. Tipsy Turny served up all the best offerings from Fresh Wines, Shiny Apple Cider, Steam Whistle, and Gruvi, and also provided a super cute photo opp for the newlyweds!
Speaking of photo opps, the Chapel boasted a gorgeous lounge area featuring the faithful PUC coffee table, attending its fourth Chapel of the season. Also present were the stunning navy velvet couch, love seat, and pillows provided by Glamorous Affairs. This lounge was more than just its looks though, many guests took a seat to enjoy the light bites provided by Courage Cookies + Purplesful Snacking, as well as the occasional charcuterie board curated by Boards ‘n’ Bliss.
As you can guess, 18 weddings in 2 days requires quite the footage fleet. Snapping the Chapel and portrait images we had Alicia Thurston Photography, Rita Kravchuk Photography, Frances Rose West, The Organic Moment, and Luna Wedding Photography. All of whom delivered jaw dropping wedding albums to the happy couples. Curio Studios bridged the gap between the couples and their far away friends and family, by live streaming the ceremony and cocktail hour. Sean Sutherland created stunning wedding videos for a few very lucky couples.
Possibly our favourite cutting cakes ever, made their appearance thanks to Kwento. With retro flowers and playful piping, in the exact colours of the Chapel, it was so clear, they understood the assignment - plus they tasted amazing!
The best part of a massive Chapel such as this one is the incredible gift that goes to a local charity as a result. This Chapel raised an unbelievable $5400 for the Evergreen Children’s Garden. The Children’s Garden provides a rare opportunity for children, parents, and caregivers of all ages and abilities to engage with nature, through active and inclusive play.
