CHAPEL RECAP: OCTOBER 13, 2023

On October 13th we gathered at The University Club of Toronto to help 9 lucky couples begin a life of wedded bliss. We also continued our Mini-lopements, giving 4 of the couples a slimmed down Chapel experience.

The University Club is a luxury venue with a timeless elegance that cannot be replicated. The grand columns, intricate crown moulding, and stunning fireplace make for a beautiful ceremony setting. Robyn Woytiuk designed a romantic Chapel to suit the Victorian space. The design used shades of blush and mauve in contrast with brighter greens to compliment the sage colour of the Chapel space. The bud vases were draped in fabric, cakes decorated with adorable ribbons, and hand lettered inspired signage guided guests through the event.

The antique romance theme continued with floral installations by Make Lemonade, which consisted of only blush carnations and hydrangea, and sprawling greenery, overflowing around the fireplace and throughout the room. To compliment each couple’s unique style, personalized bouquets and boutonnières were made in collaboration with the couples.

The lounge was also a collaborative effort between our trusted neon Chapel sign and coffee table (repainted for the fifth time this season) and Glamorous Affairs, providing a royal seating arrangement. Event Rental Group played no small part, providing all the other necessary bar and furniture rentals.

Live on guitar and mic we enjoyed many charming tunes from Joshua, at Toronto Jazz Collective, who’s radiant energy shines through every song. Speaking of radiance,we had our fantastic officiant Kim Adeney conducting the whole show from start to finish. Kim’s warmth toward every couple does not go unnoticed, and is such a valuable trait on a day like this.

When it was sealed with a kiss, the couples and their loved ones flowed toward the bar and lounge areas to enjoy Courage Cookies and Purplesful Popcorn. To compliment the snacks we offered Fresh Wines, Shiny Apple Cider, Steam Whistle, and even some Gruvi non-alcoholic beverages. Kwento delivered the most adorable romantic cutting cakes for this Chapel, frosted all in mauve and delicately embellished with small bows.

Our photography line up included Frances Rose West, Rachel Hunt Photography, and Alicia Thurston Photography who captured the glamour and charm of the space, and more importantly our couples, so perfectly. They also navigated around the downtown core to give our couples a standout collection of urban portraits. Sean Sutherland accompanied, creating a knock-out wedding video for one of our couples, and received incredible reviews for it.

This Chapel raised funds to benefit HelpAge Canada. This organization supports older Canadians from coast to coast to coast, particularly those who are underprivileged, marginalized, or struggling with loneliness and isolation.
