On a bright and busy Sunday in Toronto, we took to Steam Whistle Brewing to marry 9 couples and watch them celebrate with friends and family.

Using repurposed mixed-media materials, Robyn Woytiuk designed a dynamic Chapel backdrop with depth and visual variety to create a truly unique display. The eclectic shapes and texture of the backdrop combined with the natural light of the venue meant the backdrop was lit up differently throughout the day, creating changing shadows for each couple.

Illuminated by beams of sunlight and dozens of candles, were beautiful puddles of moss and greenery, artfully arranged by Flower Child Muskoka. The Chapel arrangements came together to give the feel of a beautiful forest wedding, made up of extraordinary foliage and sprawling stems. Our fantastic florist also provided 9 pairs of personalized florals for our couples to take down the aisle.

Matching the sunny and loving mood of the day, we enjoyed live music from a Next Level Entertainment musical duo, singing and strumming our favourite romantic tunes. Each rendition sounding even better than the original.

Juliana Klein, of Celebrate the Love, lead each couple through a ceremony tailored to the couples. Juliana has an incredible way of helping couples understand and approach the typically overwhelming process of getting married. Her ceremonies are done with a clear dedication to represent the couple and their relationship well.

To make some happy people even happier, we served Fresh Wines, Steam Whistle Brewery, Shiny Apple Cider, and Gruvi alongside Courage Cookies and Purplesful Popcorn. Some couples chose to have cake and cupcakes provided by Kwento, who had the most stunning interpretation of the Chapel design, reimagined in confections. Kwento outdoes themselves every time we get the chance to work with them.

Alicia Thurston Photography, Cristina Velasco Photography, and Michelle Np Photography took on the critical task of documenting the day for our couples to remember forever. Something we love about a downtown venue is the plethora of options when it comes to couples portraits. These three fantastic photographers took the couples to some incredible local sites, including Ripley’s Aquarium, to create lasting memories and beautiful images. Sean Sutherland followed suit, creating spectacular wedding videos for a few couples, while the Curio Studios delivered an impeccable live stream for one couples far away friends.

The couples married at this Chapel came together to contribute almost $3000 to Water First, an indigenous led organization working to provide safe, clean drinking water to indigenous communities in Canada. Water First operates on the premise that infrastructure and technology alone cannot solve the water crisis. Educated and skilled people are needed to operate these systems, and they keep respect and meaningful partnerships with Indigenous communities at the very heart of their work.
