CHAPEL RECAP: SEPTEMBER 29, 2023

There is truly nothing like a lakefront county wedding.

In late September, the PUC team travelled to Prince Edward County, where 6 couples were wed on the beaches of Lake Ontario at one of the county’s top destinations: The Drake Devonshire Inn.

The sprawling property is filled with fascinating curated art pieces, and decor. The Inn blends cottage core and modern architecture, with the Ontario landscape around it. We decided to use our Chapel design to compliment the homely space around us. We used simple and classic signage adorned with handmade macrame to welcome our guests, and a triangular wooden structure covered in delicate knotted fabrics and paired with the neon Chapel sign as the perfect photo op. This knotty decor looked better than we could have hoped, particularly when the sunlight came streaming through windows.

Maison Anthea designed breathtaking installations to elevate the space to a new level of sweet and cheerful. They also designed 6 personalized bouquets for the brides, and 6 personalized boutonnieres for the grooms. Not only were the florals stunning, but when the original set-up strategy had to be altered, they rolled with the punches and the result was phenomenal. They gave us the exact energy and dedication a wedding day requires.

What set this Chapel apart from all others was the ceremony. Each of the 6 couples were married outside directly on the beach, on an elevated wooden perch, embellished with fresh florals and flowing fabric overhead. The perch felt like a well deserved stage, celebrating our couples on this special occasion. The ceremony caught the sunlight in the most stunning way through the entire day allowing each couple to have the most natural spotlight on their moment. Officiating these ceremonies we had both Brittany Shannon and Ryoo of Party Noodles, both of whom brought such warmth and openness to the couples they wed.

Brought to us by Toronto Jazz Collective, we had an incredible keyboard soloist performing live music for the ceremonies. The instrumental interpretation of some classic love songs brought the special ceremonies to new heights.

When the ceremonies concluded, the happy couples led their loved ones back down the beach and into their cocktail hour space. Here they sipped on Fresh Wines and Gruvi non-alcoholic sparkling, and munched on the delicious Courage Cookies and Purplesful Popcorn. Guests enjoyed the signature Drake photo booth and pretty view of the water, while taking pictures and giving best wishes. A few couples opted for some adorable cutting cakes supplied by Easy Bake Becky, a talented Toronto baker, with a range of specialty cakes available.

Caitlin Dunlop Photography and Amy Buck Photography documented our stunning day with their bright and sunny photography. After each Chapel they guided their couples through the town of Wellington finding the most picturesque spots for their portraits.

This perfect county wedding day benefitted the fantastic work of The County Foundation, a public foundation created by and for the people of Prince Edward County. They work with private donors, communities and other charities to stimulate charitable giving and establish support initiatives in the Prince Edward County Area.

We’re always popping up in new places!
