CHAPEL RECAP: AUGUST 7, 2020
A SOCIALLY DISTANCED SUMMER ELOPEMENT
FOR 6 BEAUTIFUL COUPLES!
This past August, our team dreamed, designed and styled what became our very first socially distanced Pop-Up Chapel! From the ceremony space to the cocktail hour, the decor for this Chapel was completely inspired by the beauty and vibrancy of summer. Going back to one of our fave elopement venues for the second time this year, we celebrated love (in a safer way!) at The Globe and Mail Centre, where we wed 6 beautiful couples amidst a modern aesthetic and panoramic view of the city’s skyline that was absolutely breathtaking!
The decor for our ceremony space was filled with bright florals made up of 95% local blooms and foliage, and arranged in a colour palette of sunshine yellow, coral, lavender and shades of blue. Paying homage to our love for creative details, we used custom designed vinyl floral decals for the runner that mixed in frame-like shapes to mimic the photo opp and signage. Our photo opp for this Chapel was one of our all time favourites! You know we love sustainability, so we up-cycled one of our in-house backdrops, and adorned it with thrifted black vintage frames that had lush blooms spilling out of them to give off this unreal 3D effect!
With the new restrictions that were put in place for Covid-19, our layout and planning process was modified to ensure that all regulations and standards were met. Although this “new norm” changed the way we ran Chapel weddings, we were still committed to making the day stress-free and beautiful for our couples and their guests. Our Chapel safety plan included a socially distanced vendor room, sanitization stations set up in every room and hallway, carefully pre-packaged food and drinks, staff on site to disinfect every surface area before and after each couple, and 6ft distances maintained throughout the day. And yes, we made sure our stations were still totally trendy and on-theme!
At The Pop-Up Chapel Co., planning for a super rad elopement also means planning for a super rad bar and sweets menu so our team was up for the challenge and partnered with some of the best in our industry including FRESH wines and Junction Craft for refreshing bevvys, and Courage Cookies for the most delectable cookie goodness!
In commitment to our Chapel givebacks, we successfully raised $1,800 in support of Black Legal Action Centre – a charity whose efforts aims to deliver legal aid service to low income Black Ontarians and combat individual and systemic anti-black racism through legal representation. In addition, the florals from this Chapel were later donated to the Elisa House Women's Shelter.
Our newly added 2021 dates in Toronto, Hamilton, Winnipeg and Vancouver are now OPEN for booking.
